Altoona Mt Lions Ice Hockey will be having Middle School, JV and Varsity teams.
We are currently seeking a Middle School Coach and a JV Goalie.
OPEN SKATE & REGISTRATION: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th, 6:00-7:00pm.
Middle School (Grades 5-8th) and JV/Varsity (Grades 9-12th)

The practice schedule will be posted online for Middle School, JV and Varsity. All players are scheduled to be on the ice FRIDAY, SEPT 4th from 6-7pm.
All teams will share the ice until Galactic Ice finds us another ice slot. Teams will have separate locker rooms.
- JV and V players will need their USA Hockey to get on the ice (see #4 below).
- MS players do NOT need a USAH#.
1. Player Fees/payment information will be communicated once rosters are finalized. Anticipate a rate increase as Galactic Ice has increased the cost of ice slots. We will periodically do an organizational fundraiser to help defer some of these costs.
2. Program Ads is our most successful fundraiser. The Information flyer is HERE. We realize hockey is expensive and most players play on multiple teams. 75% of ad profit will go directly to your player's account. We appreciate that you committed to play scholastic hockey! Shannon Gardner has volunteered to take over the Event Program, including photos, player bios, business and personal ads and design of Program. Perhaps a few parents can work as a team to helo on this task!
3. Game jerseys for new players will be ordered after team evaluations (mid-Sept). There is a page for jerseys under the Resources Tab. If a current player would like to order an updated size, I will need that info ASAP. Complete the form and email to me.
**4. JV/V Player Registration with USA Hockey: Please register online with your 2026-2027 USA Hockey number. If you have not registered yet for USA Hockey, please click link and register: membership.usahockey.com Once complete, you will receive a confirmation email from USA Hockey - please register with the Confirmation Number from that email. JV/V Players are NOT permitted on the ice without registering with USA Hockey.
5. Parent/Spectator Code of Conduct: Complete and return by email or print and place in Mt Lion mailbox .
6. Locker Room Policy attached. JV/Varsity and Middle School players will use separate locker rooms.
7. SAFESPORT: If you are a 2009 birth year or earlier, you will be required to take the SafeSport Core Training or Refresher Course prior to participation for the 2026-2027 season. Follow this link for registration directions: SafeSport Training

8. Volunteers are needed for teams for off-ice duties: Team Manager, Score clock operator, announcer/music, and penalty box attendants.
9. If you are NOT playing Mt Lion Hockey this year, please let me know !! We are limiting rosters this season and need every available spot.
10. Altoona Mt Lion Coaches and the organization are drama-free, and we like it that way! Let the coaches coach; cheer for the team and encourage them to cheer for each other. Everyone is representing the school and should act responsibly. We have a great group of parents and players - please introduce yourselves.
